Newcomb in New York Film Festival Trip Application

Page 1

Join Newcomb Institute on a trip to New York City to attend the Athena Film Festival at Barnard College, February 27-March 1, 2020.  The festival is a weekend of inspiring films that tell the extraordinary stories of strong, bold women leaders from all walks of life – stories of ambition, courage, resilience, and moxie. The curated program includes Academy Award-nominated films, top-tier features, documentaries, and shorts — including U.S. and world premieres. It is a weekend that celebrates the stories of remarkable women — stories that need to be told and deserve to be honored.

While in the city, students will take a tour of The Dinner Party, an installation artwork by feminist artist Judy Chicago. Widely regarded as the first epic feminist artwork, it functions as a symbolic history of women in Western civilization.

Newcomb funding will cover flights, lodging (double room occupancy), registration fee, and local transportation. You will need to provide funding to cover meals and local expenses. As New York City is expensive, you will want to budget at least $50 per day for these costs.

Space is limited. To apply, please answer the questions below by December 15, 2019. Limit each response to no more than 500 words.
