Page 1

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Newcomb Mentoring Program. Please complete the survey below to establish your profile.

Please read through all the information below and complete your application:

Application Opens: August 27, 2019

The application will close on September 20, 2019 OR when all spots are filled. Matches will function based on seniority and the availability of a mentor in your chosen field. Not all matches will be exact; however, there is still a great deal you can learn from your mentor.

Requirements to participate:

  • You must attend a pre-mentoring meeting October 2 from 5:30 - 6:15 pm in Room 337 (Meeting Room 3) OR October 3 from 3:30 - 4:15pm in Room 333 (Meeting Room 1) of the Commons. If we cannot match you with a mentor this semester, you will be notified in advance and will not need to attend the meeting; you will be given priority for the next year if we cannot match you and we ask that you apply again.
  • You must commit to initiating communication (phone call, meeting, video chat, etc.) once per month with your mentor from October 2019 - May 2020.
  • You must be a sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate student.

The alumnae are volunteering their time to mentor students. We ask that all students participating in the program respond to their mentors in a timely manner and be respectful of the time their mentors dedicate to speak with them.

The program is meant to benefit you and it only can if you stay in regular communication with your mentor.

Matching Process: You will be matched to an alumna mentor based on seniority, previous mentorship experience, what you include in your application, and the alumnae that are currently available to mentor. Not all matches will be exact; however, there is still a great deal you can learn from an alumna.

After the initial mentor match is made, Newcomb will e-mail you and your mentor each other's information in October 2019. We ask you to make the initial introductory contact with the mentor.
If any issues arise or you have any questions, please contact Alyssa Liehr at aliehr@tulane.edu. Due to a high volume of emails, we cannot respond to inquiries related to if your submission was received.

Thank you for signing up to have a mentor through our Newcomb Mentoring Program!
